They had planned to march to the new Parliament building, but were stopped by a heavy police presence. Some of the protesters were detained, including Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has denied all allegations of sexual harassment against its president, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. In a letter to the Sports Ministry, the WFI called the accusations “malicious and unfounded”

However, a committee was established to investigate the allegations of sexual abuse made against Singh and coaches appointed at national camps. The committee has since completed its report, though the findings have not been made public

In 2023, Indian wrestlers, including Olympic medallists Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik, have been protesting against the president of the Wrestling Federation of India, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, for allegedly sexually harassing young athletes, including a minor. The wrestlers have accused Singh of sexually harassing seven young female wrestlers, and have demanded an independent committee investigate the allegations. The protests have grown with many members of opposition parties and farmer unions taking up the wrestlers’ cause. Most of the Indian wrestlers come from the northern agricultural states of Haryana and Punjab. Singh has denied the accusations and called the protests “politically motivated” by the opposition Congress party. The wrestlers have demanded the resignation and arrest of Singh, and have been holding demonstrations in New Delhi for more than a month
